Service 02 · Product design & development

The outsourced RF & hardware bench for agile teams.

You get a bespoke wireless or IoT product taken from concept to production. We design the circuit, RF, PCB, firmware and antenna. We take it through RED and UKCA pre-compliance and into production.

What we design

Full wireless product, or the hard RF part of yours.

You come to us for one of two things. Either you want a connected product designed in full, or the RF and antenna layer needs to work. We do both.

P/01

Digital & RF circuit design

From a breakout or adapter to a high-speed multi-board system. We design iteratively and test against your requirements at each stage.

P/02

PCB & antenna integration

We design the schematic and PCB layout in KiCad. We choose, place and tune the antenna, so the wireless layer performs in the real enclosure.

P/03

Embedded firmware

We write embedded C/C++, bare-metal or under an RTOS. We also handle backend API design and integration for connected products.

P/04

Prototype, then production

In-house assembly and 3D printing give you fast prototypes. Design for manufacture, plus Radio Equipment Directive (RED) and UKCA pre-compliance, takes it to production.

Selected work

Open Weed Locator v3.0: a single-board redesign.

We consolidated a field robot's compute, connectivity, camera and output drivers onto one compact, ruggedised PCB.

One PCB, the whole robot

The Open Weed Locator (OWL) is an open-source precision-agriculture platform. It detects weeds in real time for targeted spot-spraying. Noktura commercialises OWL for growers. They asked us to take it to v3.0 on one small, field-rugged PCB.

It was a mixed-signal design in one footprint. It integrated compute, cellular, Wi-Fi, camera, Ethernet and the spray drivers. We resolved power integrity, RF coexistence and thermal together. Then we prepared it for build.

How a build runs

Scoped, built, measured, and handed over.

01 · Scope

Free consultation

We spend 30 minutes on the product, the constraints and the deadline. Then we write a scope with a fixed view of cost.

02 · Design

Design iteratively

We design the circuit, RF, PCB and firmware in open tools. We review every milestone against your requirements.

03 · Prototype

Build & measure

We assemble and measure on our bench, covering RF, functional and EMC pre-compliance.

04 · Productionise

To production

We handle design for manufacture and documentation. The IP is yours. Design-and-source escrow can be arranged where continuity matters.
